Tom Brady and his team led the Kansas City chiefs to their first loss. The patriots had beaten them with a close score of 43-40.  This game was won by a field goal at the last few seconds of the game. This field goal was of 29 yards and kicked by Stephen Gostkowski. Chiefs quarterback was not on his A game, he had many overthrows and two interceptions, one being in the end zone. The chiefs QB held the offense back from reaching their usual potential. He wasn’t able to accomplish much until the third quarter when he connected his first touchdown pass, after that he completed three more touchdown passes to Tyreek Hill, but in the end Brady and his team came out victorious against Mahome’s and his people. If Mahomes had completed his passes in the first half of the game the Chiefs may have just been victorious.  Now its time to see how this first loss will reflect on the rest of Kansas city’s games, will they continue to thrive and beat all other teams or will this loss just be the first of many to come.

Last week on Tuesday night the Yankees were eliminated from the playoffs. The Boston Red Sox beat the New York Yankees three games to one.  Game three consisted of the Red Sox completely dominating the Yankees with a final score of 16-1. Game 4 was a pretty close one ending with a score of 4-3. Twice in 19 days the Red Sox defeated the Yankees at their home.  Looking at inning four Christian Vazquez scores a solo home run for the Red Sox. During inning nine the New York Yankees were able to earn two homeruns and had players on base one and two but were later called out after an upheld challenge on the play, thanks to Boston’s amazing first basemen Mr. Pearce. There had already been two other outs this inning so this ended up being game, Red Sox up by one. The Yankee’s did have some chance of getting the game to a tie or maybe even winning it, but they just did not have it in them this playoff season or in this last game number four. The Boston Red Sox have only ever reached the AL championship series once and that was in 2013. They are now one game away from making it there again for a second time, which we will see Saturday night at Fenway Park when they face the Astros. Do you believe the Boston Red Sox have what it takes to beat the Astros and move on to the big Al championship?

 

 

The Saturday night fight between McGregor and Khabib was an intense one. Leading up to the minute of the fight and even during there was a lot of verbal exchange with one another. Khabib dominated throughout the entire fight. This was only McGregor’s 2nd lost of his career. Khabib had total control of McGregor and took him down often, he then finished him off with a rear-naked choke a round later. Khabib’s victory was followed by him attacking McGregor’s training partner. Along with him was his team that jumped in on attacking McGregor, after McGregor had just been choked. Khabib follows up ans states his actions were due to McGregor making fun of him and his religion. He also made fun of his Russian background and said stuff about khabib’s father. The question now is what will they do with khabib for his actions? They may ban him from fighting or may ban him from the country. Although McGregor wishes this will not happen because he is ready for a rematch. After the fight he tweets and states “Good knock. Looking forward to the rematch”. Now we wait for the rematch and wonder who will be victorious in the next match.

The Chiefs and the Rams are the only teams left in the NFL that are undefeated. The Chiefs and the Rams are the only teams left in the NFL who are undefeated.  Sunday night both teams earned their 5th win, making both teams stand at a  5-0 record. Only two teams ever have been able to keep a perfect season so far. The rams have been able to score at least 30 points per game. Sunday they played the Seattle Seahawks and it was a very rough game, the game ending off in a score of 33-31. It was so chaotic one of Seattle’s best players flipped off his own sideline, as he was being carted off the filed due to an injury mid game. For the chiefs they have almost lost a few games this year, it has been very close. The chiefs defense is also ranked last in the NFL, but this has not yet gotten in the way of a victory.  About the last 50 seasons of the NFL many teams have started with a record of 5-0 and yet still lost somewhere along the line. This including the Chiefs starting record of 5-0 last year too, and then they wound up losing many regular season games after that. This year both teams have a chance for a perfect record only until the 19th of November when they play each other in Mexico City. Will either team maintain a perfect season? and if so which team?

 

Oklahoma battled with Texas but In the end took the loss of 48-45. This caused lots of anger and an outrage with doing away with Mike Stoops, Oklahoma’s defensive coordinator. These too teams being big rivals made the game pretty heated. This specific game was also very high scoring, The most Texas has ever scored against Oklahoma. Stoop’s older brother is Bob who was also part of oklahoma’s staff and helped with defensive plays but later then went to the position of head coach for Arizona. He then made a comeback in 2012 and stayed with the team. Oklahoma’s lack of defensive skill has been the primary reason for a handful of their losses. Their lack of a good defense blew their opportunity to succeed in the playoff semifinals last year in The Rose Bowl. Overall the right call was to rid of Mike Stoops, they needed a change on their defense. Mike was disappointed in himself that he failed the defense of Oklahoma. Oklahoma’s new defensive coordinator is their assistant head coach Ruffin McNeil, as Ruffin has had experience in this field before at Texas Tech. Bob Diaco, Oklahoma’s defensive analyst, and Ruffin will now be working together to strengthen their defense. Now it is time to see if their win count will increase with a defense change.

The Ryder Cup is the biggest golf tournament in the world. This competition happens every two years. The cup alternates host between the rivals USA and Europe. Ryder Cup Europe is composed of six countries- France, Germany, The Netherlands, Portugal, Spain, and Sweden. This year the cup was hosted in Europe from September 27th to the 30th. The USA team has not been able to beat Europe on their turf in 25 years. Including a big loss for USA this year as well, the score totaling to 17 and a half vs 10 and a half. Europe’s big star is Spainard Garcia, he has been the most dominant European of all time scoring 25 and a half points. USA veterans Tiger Woods and Phil Nickelson may have took part in their last Ryder Cup this year due to regression. Woods went all four days without scoring any points for team USA. The tournament consists of different matches called fourball, alternate shot, singles, etc. The USA Ryder Cup team will have their next chance to beat Europe at their turf in 2022, do they have it in them to break this chain of defeat?

Thursday night the Browns and their fans were able to celebrate a win. Not just any win, their first win in 635 days. The browns had won 21-17 over the jets. Along with the browns big win came beer, and lots of it. All of northern Ohio was giving out free beer due to the unexpected win. Cleveland has a thing called victory fridges. This is a fridge casing with lots of free beer and is not opened until a Cleveland Brown victory, and on Thursday night these were opened all over the town of Cleveland. Cleveland’s last win was in 2016 against the Chargers on Christmas Eve. But on Thursday night those stats had changed. Early game that night it was not looking in the Browns favor, they had been losing 14-0. Baker Mayfield was the highlight player of that game but he surely did not do it alone. After Mayfield was able to complete three passes he got the Browns on the scoreboard before halftime, in the third quarter is was tied up. Then within the last minutes of the last quarter he had a touchdown drive. That game for Mayfield was composed of 17 completions on 23 attempts for 201 yards passing. Overall as a team the Browns are progressively improving.

Monday night, September 17th NFL player Josh Gordon was traded from the browns to the New England Patriots. Gordon is a very talented yet trouble some player. He plays as wide receiver. His high skill level comes with a great amount of baggage though. Josh has had a rough history with drugs, mainly just marijuana. Other than that he has no other experiences with a super bad past. He has for sure made some bad decisions but nothing out of hand or too irrational. He does not like to show up to team meetings or participate in practice. He is a very good player so I am unsure why he wishes to make these poor decisions. The browns are happy with the trade, Gordon has never respected the team and its doings. The New England Patriots are also happy in this case. He is just an amazingly good player. He could be the best receiver for the pats yet. Just a matter of time and a cleanup on his behavior and he will have a great year. In the end mainly everyone is happy with the trade of Josh Gordon.

The well known Pittsburgh Steelers’ have been playing with out one of their best players Le’Veon Bell. Le’Veon Bell is running back for the Steelers and has been for a few years now. Recently this season Bell has not participated in any of the steelers games. This is because of his refusal to play. He wishes to not play because he thinks the steelers are going to run him into the dirt and he knows that they will be letting him go this year, this then means his value will decrease due to his over usage. I personally lean towards Bells side. I believe Bell is doing the right thing and is making appropriate decisions. If the Pittsburgh Steelers’ truly see potential in bell and think hes good they should’ve offered him a longer contract. After this year his contract is up so they would’ve played him as much as possible, leaving bell overused and almost useless for next year. Nobody will wish to offer Bell a contract he thinks he deserves if he gets used and abused. This is also hurting Bell every single game, he is losing a lot of money. Just missing the first two weeks it has cost him over 1.7 million dollars in lost revenue. Overall I still agree with Bell and his actions. He is worried for his career and is taking a stance.

I have been an active player in sports for a very long time, but even with younger leagues there come some pros and cons. Many issues come with sports and their events. These issues could cause a decrease in sport participation. Although there are some negative aspects, positive things stem from sports also. Sports are a big interest and leisure to most. Sports have been around for some time now and are played on a day to day basis. The first sports to be played are wrestling, Boxing, equestrian, javelin, etc. These sports have been around since 760 BC. Both women’s and men’s sports are popular in today’s world. Everyday there is a new headline or new news in the sports industry. Currently the NFL and the fantasy football league has everyone’s attention, but any sports issue today brings lots of publicity.
